Elterman bought his Subaru Impreza brand new in 2003 intending to use the car to commute to work and compete in regional racing events in his free time. Over time the vehicle was transformed into a track-only race machine with help from sponsors. Elterman moved up the motorsports ranks to become the national 2010 Redline Time Attack Modified All-Wheel Drive class Season Champion, and his car of choice remains the same vehicle that he drove off a St. Louis dealer lot in 2003.
